Iran’s Foreign Ministry’s reaction to Trump’s peace proposal

According to the political service of the SaedNews news website, Iran’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in a statement, referring to former President Trump’s recent remarks, that the United States — as the world’s largest producer of terrorism and the supporter of the terrorist, genocidal Zionist regime — has no moral standing to level accusations against others.

The statement continued: it strongly condemns the baseless allegations and irresponsible, shameful claims made by the President of the United States concerning Iran, remarks delivered on Monday in the Knesset of the Zionist regime in the presence of genocidal perpetrators.

The people of Iran — while paying profound respect to Iran’s and the region’s eternal hero, Martyr Haj Qasem Soleimani, who played an unparalleled role in confronting U.S.-manufactured ISIS terrorism — will never forgive or forget the brutal crime of the United States in assassinating that great man and his companions.

The Ministry emphasizes that repeating falsehoods about Iran’s peaceful nuclear program in no way justifies the joint crime of the U.S. and the Zionist regime in violating the sacred soil of Iran and murdering the courageous sons of the Iranian homeland. Boasting about and admitting to crimes and aggression only increases the burden of responsibility on the United States for committing those acts and exposes the depth of hostility American policymakers bear toward the great people of Iran.

No one can deny America’s complicity and active participation in the genocidal and warmongering actions of the Zionist regime in occupied Palestine, and the United States must be held to account for its role in enabling Israeli impunity — including by blocking any effective measures against Israel in the United Nations Security Council and obstructing international judicial processes aimed at prosecuting Israeli criminals.

America’s interventionist policies in the region, its support for the occupation and crimes of the genocidal Israeli regime, together with its unlimited arms sales to the area, have made the United States the greatest source of instability and insecurity in the region.

The Ministry regards the U.S. President’s professed desire for peace and dialogue as fundamentally at odds with America’s hostile and criminal conduct toward the Iranian people. How can one, amid political negotiations, attack residential neighborhoods and a country’s peaceful nuclear facilities, martyr more than a thousand people — including innocent women and children — and then claim a wish for peace and friendship!?

Iranians, relying on their culture and rich historical heritage, are people of reason, dialogue, and engagement; at the same time, they will defend Iran’s independence, national dignity, and supreme interests with courage and determination.
