SAEDNEWS: A widespread fire at Kalleh Dairy in Amol has been contained with extensive firefighting and crisis management efforts. Officials report that 90% of the blaze is controlled, and with fire prevented from reaching sensitive areas, including ammonia tanks, there are currently no major concerns.
According to SaedNews via ISNA, Jalal Maleki, spokesperson for Tehran’s Fire Department, reported from the scene that a major fire broke out at one of Iran’s largest dairy plants, Kaleh in Amol. By the time backup crews arrived, local firefighters and provincial teams had already contained much of the blaze.
The fire affected around 8,000 square meters, fueled by flammable materials like cartons and packaging. Maleki said firefighters successfully prevented flames from reaching sensitive areas, including laboratory sections and ammonia storage tanks in the cold storage, which was crucial in controlling the incident.
About 90% of the fire is now under control, with roughly 200 firefighters and dozens of vehicles from across Mazandaran province and Tehran continuing operations. The heat caused damage to some pipes and ceilings, though the factory’s internal safety and fire systems helped limit the spread before emergency teams arrived.
Hosein Zafari, spokesperson for Iran’s National Crisis Management, confirmed the fire is contained and no further spread is expected. Preliminary reports indicate the fire began due to welding work by several workers, whose negligence allowed sparks to ignite facilities, spreading the blaze to other areas. Additional updates will be provided as the situation evolves.
