Discovery of Remains of a Sasanian-Era Fire Temple in Lorestan

SAEDNEWS: During excavations at the Sasanian fire temple of Kuhdasht, a chahartaq structure, a ceremonial incense burner, and decorative stucco reliefs were uncovered. Only about 10 percent of the site has been excavated so far, and the findings are helping to complete the historical record of western Iran.

Discovery of Remains of a Sasanian-Era Fire Temple in Lorestan

According to the Social Affairs Desk of Saed News, the remains uncovered from a Sasanian-period fire temple in Kuhdasht, Lorestan, have been discovered. In this rescue excavation, the main chahār-tāq structure (the four-arched central chamber), a fire altar/incense burner, and architectural elements and features such as decorative stucco reliefs have been identified. After the excavation is completed, these remains will be stabilized and fixed in situ.

Archaeologists state that only about 10 percent of the site has so far been excavated, and that this building represents a missing link that helps complete the cultural and historical picture of western Iran.
