SAEDNEWS: France, the UK, and Germany have officially requested the UN Security Council to trigger the “snapback” mechanism and reinstate sanctions on Iran, according to Panama, which currently holds the Council presidency.
According to SaedNews, citing ISNA, the President of the UN Security Council confirmed that three European countries have requested the process to reinstate sanctions on Iran.
The Panamanian Mission announced on Thursday that France, the United Kingdom, and Germany, known as the European Troika, have officially communicated their request to reactivate the sanctions mechanism against Iran to the United Nations Security Council.
The mission told reporters: “Yes, they have officially sent a letter and announced their request to activate the snapback.”
Panama holds the presidency of the UN Security Council in August.
