Pashinyan: Shared Border with Iran Holds Strategic Importance, Concerns Will Be Respected

SAEDNEWS: Masoud Pezeshkian and Nikol Pashinyan emphasized the continuation of friendly relations and strengthening long-term cooperation between Iran and Armenia, agreeing to respect Iran’s concerns in regional projects.

Pashinyan: Shared Border with Iran Holds Strategic Importance, Concerns Will Be Respected

Masoud Pezeshkian, on Tuesday, 19 August, stated during a high-level meeting between Iranian and Armenian delegations that the continuation of friendly relations between the two countries is a serious commitment of the Iranian government. He announced Iran’s readiness to accelerate the finalization and signing of a strategic long-term cooperation program.

According to Saed News quoting ISNA, the President emphasized that Iran-Armenia relations and cooperation are developing across all areas and stressed the necessity of increasing exchanges and consultations between officials of both countries to overcome obstacles and achieve the objectives outlined in bilateral documents.

Pezeshkian noted that the deep historical, cultural, and civilizational commonalities between Iran and Armenia provide a very suitable foundation for strengthening cooperation between Tehran and Yerevan based on mutual benefits.

He also highlighted the importance of paying attention to Iran’s concerns regarding recent regional developments, including the recently signed memorandum between Armenia, Azerbaijan, and the United States, stating that Iran has always sought stability and peace in the Caucasus region.

Pashinyan: Iran’s Considerations Will Be Respected in New Corridor Construction

The Armenian Prime Minister expressed pleasure at Pezeshkian’s visit and reaffirmed Armenia’s commitment to preserving friendly and historical relations with Iran.

Nikol Pashinyan stressed that Iran and Armenia possess diverse and complementary capacities that should be leveraged to serve the interests of both countries.

He also emphasized that Armenia considers its shared border with Iran of strategic importance and that cooperation with Iran, grounded in good neighborliness and friendly relations, is strategically significant. He assured that Iran’s considerations will be fully respected in the construction of the new corridor.

Pashinyan concluded by stating that Armenia is ready to sign the strategic long-term cooperation document between the two countries.
