Bolton: Trump Did Not Lose, but the Real Victory Went to Putin

According to Saed News, citing CNN, in the recent Alaska summit held on August 15, 2025, Donald Trump and Vladimir Putin engaged in discussions for more than three hours, but no concrete agreement was reached. After the meeting, John Bolton openly criticized Trump’s performance, stating: “Trump did not lose, but Putin clearly won.”

ALASKA MEETING

Bolton described the summit as a gift to Russia, emphasizing that Putin succeeded in gaining greater international legitimacy without conceding any points. He had previously warned that such a meeting could resemble Trump’s unsuccessful attempt to invite the Taliban to Camp David in 2019.

The joint press conference of the two leaders was also marked by ambiguity; Putin claimed that an agreement had been reached, while Trump emphasized that no agreement was achieved. The event faced widespread criticism from Democrats, NATO allies, Ukrainian officials, and analysts, who accused Trump of legitimizing Putin and offering symbolic concessions, such as a red carpet welcome.

In the end, the summit concluded without any specific agreement, largely benefiting Putin and leaving Trump in a position where he could not secure any notable diplomatic achievement.
