Heading to court? These traditional prayers and practices are often recited for help, relief and favourable outcomes — treat them as spiritual support, not legal advice.
By reciting the prayers presented in this section, you will — God willing — obtain victory and success before the court and the judge. If you have a court case and seek an opening (kārgušāyī), success and honour in court or before a magistrate, you can use the following supplications.
Becoming entangled in court matters can happen to anyone. Getting involved in such issues is often very difficult; in these situations you should first seek help from God, and then recite the prayers that are known to bring victory in court with sincere faith and devotion so that your problem and distress are resolved as quickly as possible. Below in this article the best prayer for victory in court is written.
In Makārim al-Akhlaq it is reported that the Messenger of God (peace be upon him) said to ʿAlī (peace be upon him):
Whenever you encounter distress, recite this prayer frequently:
In the name of God, the Most Merciful, the Most Compassionate.
There is no power nor might except by God, the Exalted, the Great.
You alone we worship, and You alone we ask for help.
From Imam Zayn al-ʿĀbidīn (peace be upon him) it is narrated:
My father, at the time of his martyrdom, said to me: “My son, I will recite for you a prayer that my mother Fatima taught me — keep it; in times of need, anxiety, and distress recite it:”
“O my God, by the right of Yā Sīn and the Wise Qur’an, and by the right of Tā Hā and the Magnificent Qur’an — O You who are able to meet the needs of petitioners, O You who know what is in hearts, O reliever of the distressed, O one who relieves the sorrowful, O Most Merciful to the aged, O Sustainer of the little child, O He who needs no explanation — send blessings upon Muhammad and the family of Muhammad and do for me such-and-such.”
For entering the judge’s chamber in court and changing the court’s verdict in your favour, recite Ayat al-Kursi 21 times and then recite verse 52 of Sūrat al-Tawbah 12 times:
“Say, ‘Do you wait for us except one of the two best outcomes? And we are waiting for you that Allah will afflict you with punishment from Him or by our hands. So wait; indeed we are with you, waiting.’”
After performing prayer, recite the following with sincere intent so that — God willing — you may be victorious and acquitted in court:
“I seek forgiveness from God — there is no god but He, the Living, the Sustainer, the Most Merciful, the Compassionate, Possessor of Majesty and Honour — and I repent to Him. I ask Him to send blessings upon Muhammad and the family of Muhammad, and to accept the repentance of a humble, submissive, devout, poor, needy servant who possesses no benefit or harm for himself, and who neither controls death nor life nor resurrection.”
(Note: this paragraph is the translation of the Arabic-style supplication given in the article; it is a plea for forgiveness, sending blessings on the Prophet and his family, and asking God to accept the petitioner’s repentance and to relieve their condition.)
Whoever recites Sūrat Ṭā Hā after the dawn (Fajr) adhān and before sunrise will find that hearts are softened toward him, his enemy will be overcome, and his provision will expand from unexpected sources. Those who have a court appearance are advised to recite this surah especially on the morning of the hearing — it is considered highly efficacious.
It is narrated that whenever Imam Sajjad (peace be upon him) faced a serious issue, hardship, grief, or severe pressure — as befalls people in life — he would recite this supplication. It is very effective for solving problems, distress, economic troubles, chest tightness and sorrow.
“O You by Whom knots of difficulties are undone…”
Imam ʿAlī said:
Whenever an affliction, fear or distress reaches you, or you fear that calamity might befall you, seek refuge in God the Almighty and ask Him to remove it. Our reliance should be on God. These are all causes and means; whenever you feel fear or calamity overwhelms you, go to God’s refuge and ask Him to avert the waves of trial.
