Ten quick repeats of four short phrases after each prayer — could such a tiny habit really bring protection and nearness to the Prophet? Many sources say yes.

The Simple Prayer Habit That Promises 1,000 Protections — The Rewards of Imam Ali’s Tasbihat

Reciting supplications and tasbihat after prayer increases the virtue of the prayer and itself bestows special reward on the reciter. Among these meritorious supplications are the Tasbihat of Amir al-Mu’minin.

What reward does reciting the Tasbihat of Amir al-Mu’minin (peace be upon him) bring?

Do you know that there are tasbihat known as the Tasbihat of Amir al-Mu’minin (peace be upon him) that carry very great virtue — and are at the same time very easy?

Alongside the Tasbihat of Lady Fatima (peace be upon her), there are also the Tasbihat of Amir al-Mu’minin (peace be upon him) which have great virtue.

The formulation of Amir al-Mu’minin’s tasbihat is as follows:

10 times Subḥān Allāh
10 times Al-ḥamdu lillāh
10 times Allāhu Akbar
10 times Lā ilāha illā Allāh

to be recited after every prayer.

The virtue of these tasbihat:

Amir al-Mu’minin (peace be upon him) said to Barraʾ ibn ʿĀzib:
“Shall I teach you a deed that — if you do it — you will be among God’s elect?”
Barraʾ said: “Yes.”

The Imam taught him the above tasbihat and then said: Whoever recites these tasbihat after every prayer, God will remove a thousand worldly afflictions from him — the easiest of which is apostasy — and in the Hereafter will prepare a thousand stations for him, one of which is proximity to the Messenger of God (peace and blessings be upon him).

The Tasbihat of Amir al-Mu’minin after prayer — sources

The Tasbihat of Amir al-Mu’minin are introduced in books such as Amali of Shaykh al-Saduq, and in it the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) recommended to the Imam that he recite in this way:
(Arabic quoted in source) — “O Ali, do you know how to purify speech? Whoever says in the morning and evening ‘Subḥān Allāh, Al-ḥamdu lillāh, Lā ilāha illā Allāh’ ten times has purified his speech.”

This narration indicates the recommendation to glorify God at the beginning and end of the day. Imam Ali (peace be upon him) also recommended reciting these tasbihat after the daily prayers.
