Three Iranian Films Set to Screen at Indian Festiva!

“My Daughter’s Hair,” directed by Hesam Farahmand, is set to be screened in the Best Debut Feature Film of a Director section at the International Film Festival of India (IFFI).
Also known as “Raha,” the drama follows a struggling family navigating life in an unstable economy. Tohid, his wife, and their children live an ordinary life—until a seemingly simple event disrupts their world.

Tohid purchases a second-hand laptop with money he earns from selling his daughter’s hair, bringing a brief sense of joy to the household. But soon, a dispute arises with a wealthy family over the laptop’s true ownership. As tensions escalate, Tohid is forced to confront harsh realities that reshape his life and his family’s future, compelling him to fight for what truly matters.

Another Iranian film, “K-Poper,” directed by Ebrahim Amini, will compete for the ICFT UNESCO Gandhi Medal.
The film tells the story of a teenage Iranian girl who becomes captivated by a famous Korean K-pop star. Dreaming of traveling to Seoul to see him perform and to join a competition she has already been accepted into, she faces strong opposition from her mother, creating a central emotional and cultural conflict.

Saeed Roustayi’s “Woman and Child” will also be screened in From the Festivals, a non-competitive section.
The story follows Mahnaz, a 40-year-old widowed nurse, as she struggles with her rebellious son Aliyar, recently suspended from school. Family tensions reach their peak during her engagement ceremony with her new partner, Hamid—when a tragic accident changes everything. In the aftermath, Mahnaz must confront betrayal, loss, and a difficult search for justice.
