Pezeshkian urges Islamic unity, diplomacy to halt Israel’s carnage in Gaza

President Masoud Pezeshkian has called on Muslim countries to act collectively and decisively through active diplomacy to stop Israel’s atrocities in Gaza, describing the ongoing humanitarian disaster as intolerable for any free-minded human being.

“The catastrophes caused by the Zionist regime in Gaza are unacceptable to any free-minded person,” Pezeshkian said in a phone call with Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim on Wednesday.

“I hope Islamic countries will act with unity, responsibility, and through active diplomacy and diplomatic pressure to prevent the continuation of these crimes.”

Pezeshkian reaffirmed Iran’s unwavering support for the Palestinian cause and urged other Muslim nations to take a firmer stance.

“The Islamic Republic of Iran has always defended the rights of the oppressed Palestinian nation, and other Islamic countries should also adopt a stronger and more active position in support of the oppressed people of Palestine and Gaza. Collective efforts in confronting the Zionist regime’s crimes in Gaza will be highly effective.”

Referring to Israel’s 12-day war against Iran, the president added, “Our sin is that we defend the oppressed people of Palestine and their human rights, and we detest the injustice they suffer. The global arrogant powers consider this a crime and pressure us for it.”

Pezeshkian also expressed hope for deeper bilateral ties, calling for expanded cooperation across all fields between Iran and Malaysia.

For his part, Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim condemned Israel’s atrocities in Gaza and highlighted his government’s strong response.

The Malaysian government has issued a strongly worded statement against the crimes in Gaza and is pursuing extensive diplomatic efforts to stop the genocide, he said.

Anwar also emphasized his country’s commitment to strengthening ties with Iran and expressed readiness to visit Tehran at Pezeshkian’s invitation.

The government and people of Malaysia hold special respect for the Islamic Republic of Iran, he added.
