Iran’s Atomic Agency Committed To Its Peaceful Nuclear Mandate, Says MP

The Atomic Energy Organization of Iran (AEOI) remains committed to its mission of using nuclear energy for peaceful purposes, a senior lawmaker said following testimony by the country’s atomic chief.

Esmaeil Hosseini, spokesperson for the Parliament’s Energy Commission, spoke to reporters Sunday after AEOI head Mohammad Eslami appeared before the committee to discuss the latest developments in the nation’s nuclear program.

Hosseini said commission members were assured of Eslami’s firm commitment to continuing the AEOI’s peaceful nuclear mandate. The meeting covered both strategic safeguards and technical measures aimed at preserving Iran’s nuclear progress in accordance with national law.

The session took place in the wake of recent Israeli military aggression against Iran, including attacks on nuclear sites and scientists.

During the briefing, Eslami outlined the AEOI’s preventive steps and reaffirmed its dedication to civilian nuclear activities. He also explained how the organization plans to implement parliamentary legislation requiring the government to suspend cooperation with the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA).

Lawmakers also shared their perspectives on the technical, legal, and political dimensions of Iran’s nuclear industry.
