SAEDNEWS: President Masoud Pezeshkian hailed Pakistan’s support for Iran during the 12-day Israeli-imposed war on the country.
President Masoud Pezeshkian has called for greater unity among Muslim nations and urged the sharing of scientific, industrial, and agricultural capabilities to meet the needs of the Islamic Ummah through a united bloc.
Speaking during a meeting with Nawaz Sharif, leader of Pakistan’s Muslim League party, in Lahore on Saturday, Pezeshkian expressed gratitude for Pakistan’s support for Iran during the 12-day Israeli-imposed war on the country and stressed the importance of collaboration among Muslim countries.
“If Muslims around the world stand united, the Zionist regime will no longer be able to target independent nations individually,” Pezeshkian said, emphasizing the necessity of regional cooperation against external pressures.
Nawaz Sharif praised the resilience of the Iranian people in the face of recent Israeli attacks, stating, “The people of Iran not only defended their homeland with their steadfastness but also showcased a new, proud image of Iran [to the world]. This resistance was not merely against a regime but a courageous stand against global powers.”
Sharif underscored the deep-rooted ties between Pakistan and Iran, describing Pakistan as not just a neighbor, but a brother to the Islamic Republic. “We are eager to strengthen and expand relations in all areas,” he said.
Pezeshkian arrived in Lahore earlier on Saturday, leading a high-ranking delegation in the first leg of his official visit to Pakistan. He was received by former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and Maryam Nawaz Sharif, Chief Minister of Punjab province, at Lahore’s historic city center.
The president is scheduled to meet Pakistan’s top leadership, including the Prime Minister, President, and the Speakers of the National Assembly and Senate, during his stay in Islamabad.
