A group of Pakistani Parliament members has welcomed Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian’s visit to Islamabad, noting that his trip, following Iran’s victory in the 12-day imposed war, signifies the despair of common enemies and reflects the unbreakable bond between the two neighbors.

On the occasion of President Pezeshkian's visit to Pakistan, IRNA conducted exclusive interviews with members of Pakistan’s Senate and National Assembly in Islamabad, gathering their perspectives on bilateral relations and the significance of the President’s planned visit on Saturday.

Pakistani political elites welcomed the Iranian President’s visit, describing it as highly significant, especially after the Islamic Republic’s triumph in the 12-day war against the Israeli regime.

Member of the National Assembly of Pakistan, Malik Ibrar Ahmed, told IRNA, “We are very pleased with this visit and believe that the presence of Iran’s President in our country brings good fortune to Pakistan.”

He added, “The Islamic Republic of Iran is our Muslim neighbor, and our support for this country has always been steadfast and will continue with full strength in the future.”

Pakistani Hindu Senator Danesh Kumar told IRNA, “As a politician from Balochistan, I am extremely happy about the Iranian President’s visit because our province shares a border with Iran.”

He added, “Neighboring Iran is a great honor for my people in Balochistan and all of Pakistan. Of course, our common enemies seek to create misunderstandings, but I believe the Iranian President’s visit to Pakistan is a strong response to the conspiracies of those who oppose friendly relations between these two neighbors.”

He emphasized, “Regular high-level exchanges between Iran and Pakistan will undoubtedly strengthen relations, expand economic cooperation, and enhance people-to-people ties.”

Malik Shafqat Abbas Awan, a member of Pakistan’s National Assembly from Tehreek-e-Insaaf (P.T.I), told IRNA, “We are close neighbors, and if there are any shortcomings in the development of our relations, we must address them.”

He added, “Tehran and Islamabad hold significant strategic positions in the region, and I am confident that President Pezeshkian’s visit will further strengthen bilateral ties.”

Sayed Abrar Ali Shah, a member of the Pakistan Peoples Party (P.P.P.) in the National Assembly, said, “We will use this important visit as an opportunity to reaffirm that Pakistan will always defend the interests of the Islamic Republic of Iran.”

Grand Democratic Alliance (G.D.A.) Secretary General Safdar Abbasi told IRNA: “The Iranian President’s visit will further solidify Pakistan’s relations with the Islamic Republic of Iran. The Iranian people have endured hardships under foreign pressure and sanctions, yet Iran-Pakistan relations have consistently grown.”

The Pakistani politician added: “We believe that recent aggressions in the subcontinent and the Middle East have only strengthened the friendship between Iran and Pakistan. The Israeli regime and the U.S. committed aggression against Iran, and in this critical moment, Pakistan and Iran strongly supported each other.”

Praising Iran’s civilization and highlighting the shared historical and cultural ties between the two neighbors, he added, “We appreciate Iran’s constructive efforts in promoting peace and reducing tensions in South Asia.”

Pezeshkian, at the head of a high-ranking political-economic delegation, arrived in Islamabad in the afternoon, where he was officially welcomed by Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif.

At the welcoming ceremony at Noor Khan Air Base, 21 cannon shots were fired in honor as the Iranian president descended from the plane.

Several Pakistani ministers and Iranian diplomatic staff, including Ambassador to Islamabad Reza Amiri Moghadam, were also present at the ceremony.

Meetings with high-ranking Pakistani officials and signing several cooperation documents are on the agenda of the two-day visit of Pezeshkian to Pakistan.
