SAEDNEWS: The spokesperson for the Iranian Foreign Ministry condemned the Zionist regime’s raid on the Freedom Flotilla ship ‘Handala’, which was carrying aid for Gaza in the international waters.
In a statement on Sunday evening, Esmaeil Baqaei denounced the Israeli act as a blatant case of maritime piracy and a grave violation of the international law.
He said the raid was made as part of the Israeli regime’s genocidal policy in the occupied Palestinian territories and in the continuation of the cruel and inhumane siege aimed at exacerbating famine and starvation among the defenseless people of Gaza.
Baqaei said the attack on Handala ship following a previous assault on the ‘Maddeline’ vessel constitutes a flagrant breach of the principles and rules of the international law and must be condemned by all governments and international institutions.
He also underscored the urgent need to lift the imposed blockade on Gaza, ensure the immediate and adequate delivery of humanitarian aids to the Strip, and guarantee the distribution of assistance solely through internationally-recognized mechanisms.
The Israeli forces on Saturday night stormed the Gaza-bound Handala ship, which was carrying aid to starving Palestinians.
The Handala is part of the Freedom Flotilla Coalition (FFC), which has attempted numerous times to break Israel’s blockade on Gaza via sea and deliver aid to Palestinians there.
