SAEDNEWS: Hamidreza Sadeghi, a senior official at the Qeshm Free Zone Organization said that Qeshm Island possesses significant potential to play a key role in developing blue economy in southern Iran.
Hamidreza Sadeghi, Director of Industry and Mine Affairs at the Qeshm Free Zone Organization, says Qeshm Island, located in southern Iran, has great potential to become the driving engine of the ongoing plans to develop blue economy.
Sadeghi made the remarks in an interview with IRNA on Saturday.
He said that in Iran’s new national development outlook, the blue economy has been introduced as a key driver for sustainable growth, widespread job creation, and enhancing the country’s geo-economic position at both regional and international levels.
Qeshm Island, with its exceptional location in the heart of the Persian Gulf, has the potential to become the driving engine of this strategic approach, he added.
Sadeghi said that Qeshm’s strategic proximity to the Strait of Hormuz, access to open seas, its location along international maritime corridors, and closeness to major energy resources in the Persian Gulf have granted this island an unmatched status in advancing the blue economy.
He also highlighted the island’s unique potential in marine industries, oil and gas, renewable energy, and marine mining, adding that Qeshm is a strategic zone capable of reinforcing national economic security due to its natural resources, exceptional geo-economic location, and industrial infrastructure.
He outlined a roadmap to transform Qeshm into an international maritime economic hub, enhancing regional trade and local livelihoods.
