UNRWA: Israel Using Starvation as Weapon against Gaza’s 1 Million Children

The United Nations Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA) on Sunday accused Israel of systematically starving Gaza’s civilians, including over 1 million children.

In a statement published on X, the agency stated: "The Israeli Authorities are starving civilians in Gaza. Among them are 1 million children."

UNRWA reiterated its urgent demand for the lifting of Israel’s total blockade, saying: "Lift the siege: allow UNRWA to bring in food and medicines."

Since March 2, Israel has maintained a full siege on Gaza, blocking humanitarian aid, bombing relief convoys, and deliberately targeting food distribution points.

Despite international legal obligations, Tel Aviv continues to obstruct life-saving assistance to a starving population.

Gaza’s Health Ministry reports dozens of child deaths from hunger and dehydration, with hundreds of thousands more at extreme risk due to Israel-engineered famine conditions and the total collapse of medical infrastructure.

On Saturday, at least 136 Palestinians were killed in Israeli airstrikes, including 38 people who were waiting for humanitarian aid and three children who died of malnutrition, according to Palestinian authorities.

Since October 2023, Israeli bombardments have killed nearly 59,000 Palestinians—mostly women and children—while flattening large swaths of the Gaza Strip and pushing the population into a state of mass starvation.
