SAEDNEWS: An earthquake with a magnitude of 5.8 was registered in Alaska, the US Geological Survey (USGS) reported.
The seismic event originated roughly 90 kilometers north of Yakutat, according to the agency’s report.
Preliminary data indicate that the quake struck at a shallow depth of about 5 kilometers beneath the surface — a factor that can amplify ground shaking.
So far, officials have not reported any injuries or structural damage.
The region had already been unsettled a day earlier, when a powerful magnitude-7.0 earthquake rattled the same area.
