Fire Put Out At Iran’s Largest Oil Refinery, No Sabotage Involved

According to reports, the fire that took place earlier in the day at Unit 70 of Abadan Refinery, located in southwest Iran near the border with Iraq, had been controlled with relentless efforts by operational and rescue teams based in the region.

A report quoted as saying a statement from the public relations office of the refinery, which showed that a pump leakage had caused the fire.

The statement said there was no sign of sabotage or human role in the incident, adding that one employee of the refinery had been killed as a result of the fire.

It said the blaze had not affected production volumes at Abadan Refinery, which is Iran’s second-largest by output, adding that the refinery had quickly replaced other units with idle capacity to continue refining oil at stable levels.

The report said a full investigation was ongoing about other dimensions of the incident and its real cause.

There have been social media speculations about sabotage attacks in Iran since the country fought a 12-day war of aggression with the Israeli regime last month.

The war ended on June 24 with a ceasefire, although Iranian authorities have warned the country would react decisively to any new attempt by the Israeli regime to sow chaos in the country.
