SAEDNEWS: The head of the Parliamentary Trade and Investment Facilitation Committee warned that rented SIM cards could be exploited by Zionist agents and foreign nationals for sabotage during wartime, urging the Ministry of Communications to issue a public advisory.
According to Saednews, Reza Hajipour stated that some foreign nationals and Zionist agents have exploited rented SIM cards due to public unawareness and a lack of timely warnings from the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology. Although regulations limit the number of SIM cards an individual can register, poor management has led some SIM cards to be rented out to unauthorized persons, including foreign nationals.
He added that during wartime, these SIM cards could be misused by Zionist agents inside the country. He criticized the Ministry for not issuing early warnings to SIM card owners about the legal risks and potential misuse of renting their SIM cards.
The head of the Parliamentary Trade and Investment Facilitation Committee stressed the urgent need for the Minister of Communications to provide public information on this issue. He lamented poor management over recent years in controlling the illegal rental of SIM cards, which threatens national security.
Hajipour urged the public, especially SIM card owners who have rented out their cards, to report such cases promptly to supervisory authorities and relevant platforms. He warned that legal responsibility for any misuse lies with the SIM card owner and that misuse during wartime could have severe consequences for them.
