SAEDNEWS: Daniele Pera, an Italian geopolitical analyst, views the recent Israeli aggressions against Iran from a strategic perspective, considering them part of a broader Zionist project to reshape the Middle East in favor of its absolute hegemony.

Italian Geopolitical Analyst: Zionist Regime Seeks Hegemony Through Targeted Violence and Terrorism

According to him, this project advances under the shadow of religious extremism and the dream of a "Greater Israel from the Nile to the Euphrates," with Iran seen as the last major obstacle to its realization. Highlighting the aggressive—not defensive—nature of Israel’s actions, Pera stresses that the bombings of infrastructure and the killing of civilians in Iran, Gaza, and Lebanon are not merely intended to instill fear, but serve the goals of ethnic cleansing, isolating Tehran, and ultimately achieving regime change.

He sharply criticizes the destructive role of the United States and the Zionist lobby in supporting these policies and describes Europe as culturally and militarily subjugated by the West, incapable of voicing criticism against Israel. Pera also blames Western media for distorting reality and censoring war crimes, portraying them as part of this machinery of aggression.

Having recently visited Tehran, the Italian analyst expressed anger and sorrow over the Israeli regime’s targeting of Iranian media centers, underscoring the urgent need for raising awareness, strengthening independent fronts, and pursuing legal accountability for these crimes. What follows is the full text of this exclusive interview.

1. "These days, the world is witnessing blatant acts of aggression by the Israeli regime against Iran and its people. In your view, why does this regime commit such crimes against defenseless civilians in Gaza, Lebanon, and Iran? What drives it to continue these aggressions, including targeted assassinations?"

Israel wants to reshape the Middle East (or Western Asia) in a way in which it is the only regional power and it has full hegemony. At the same time its geography says that it lacks strategic depth. This is the reason why it tries to catch it by attacking and occupying part of the territories of its neighbours: the south of Lebanon and Syria, for instance. Let's not forget that the current Israel is in the hands of religious fanatics who believe that the borders of the so called “Jewish State” should go “from the Nile until the Euphrates”. The finance minister Bezalel Smotrich, for example, once said that Israel should occupy Damascus, because this is what is written in the holy texts. And also their attitude towards Palestinians comes from their religious beliefs. God promised them the land of Palestine and because of this, they feel like they have the right to exterminate the people who live there before them exactly how it is described in the Torah. Now, after the fall of Damascus, Iran represents the only obstacle left for the full achievment of this target. That is the reason why they attacked Tehran. But this time Israel has crashed against a wall.

2. "The Israeli regime claims to be targeting Iran’s nuclear and missile programs, yet it clearly strikes hospitals, infrastructure, and media institutions, with many of the victims being women and children. How can this contradiction be explained? What is the real objective behind these actions?"

I believe the real objective is to spread terror among the Iranian population and give an image of strenght (like they can do whatever they want, despite international law). But Israel is a paper tiger and they underestimated the response of the Islamic Republic. Furthermore, this behaviour actually contradicts the supposed target of the “regime change”. If you target the civilians, you may not expect them to help you in overthrowing the Islamic Republic. Netanyahu always claims to be a friend of the Iranian people, but now he obtained the opposite result and the Iranians are more unite then ever.

3. "Although the UN and many human rights organizations have documented the war crimes of the Israeli regime, Western governments continue to support it militarily and politically. Why do you think Western countries largely remain silent in the face of these crimes?"

Unfortunately, European countries are not sovereign States. Some of them are occupied by United States since 1945 and some others decided to be Amercian satellites after the fall of Soviet Union. NATO itself is a tool to keep Europe in a sort of geopolitical captivity. This is not just a military occupation. It is also a cultural one. We are part of an American “empire”. Even if our people despise Israel and its actions in great majority, our politicians (both left wing and right wing) and our media are controlled by the command centers in the US. I said “cultural occupation”. Well, after WWII and the so called “holocaust”, they basically imposed us the secular religion of remorse. We, Europeans, are responsibles for what happened to the Jewish people. So we had to help them build their State and protect them no matter what. The result is that we are now hostages of both Israel and United States. If you criticize Israel, you become antisemitic straight away. And this is quite hilarious because most of Israeli citizens are not even ethnically semites.

4. "Western media often portray the Israeli regime as acting in 'self-defense,' while ignoring its massacres of civilians in Gaza, Lebanon, and Iran, as well as its assassination campaigns. How do you interpret this media bias, and what can be done to counter it?"

Israel never acted in self-defense. Every single war (with the exclusion of the so called “Kippur War” in 1973) fought by Israel is a de facto product of Israeli aggression. In 1948 the Arab armies attacked the new entity in response of the massacre of the Palestinian people. 1967 was a preventive Israeli aggression against its neighbours. The same is true for the different operations in Lebanon (1978, 1982 and so on). In 2006, when Hezbollah kidnapped some Israeli soldiers, the IDF had already planned its attack on Lebanon, exactly in the same way that the invasion of the Gaza strip was already planned before october 2023. The only way to fight the lie of the self-defense is to spread the real story of this entity. But as I said before, especially in the west, it is very difficult to talk freely about the real history of Israel and its crimes.

5. "What do you believe is the long-term goal of the Zionist regime’s aggressive and expansionist policies? What threats do these ambitions pose to its neighbors in the Middle East?"

The real goal is to build a Middle East where Israel is the only hegemon. They destroyed Iraq. They destroyed Syria. Lebanon, despite Hezbollah, is not a sovreign State (its airspace is costantly violeted by Israel). Jordan is a mere buffer State between Israel and Iraq. And let's not forget the so called Abraham Accords. At the moment, their project was quite succesful. But with the attack on Iran, they did a serious miscalculation that showed their real weakness.

6. "What is your personal reaction to the recent attacks by this regime against Iran and the killing of civilians? What message would you like to share?"

I have been recently in Teheran and I had the honour to be interviewed in the national television where the zionist entity decided to bomb, a couple of journalists. I felt angery and speechless in the face of this brutal action (NATO did exactly the same thing in Belgrade in 1999 and this shows somehow the common identity of two entities dedicated to expansion in different ways). Iranian people are strong. Iranian people know what resistance means. This is just a phase of this war. Israel is a weak country deoendent on foreign aid. Iran is quite the opposite and will overcome this, like it did it after the war against Saddam Hussein regime.

7. "The United States routinely vetoes UN resolutions condemning the Israeli regime's crimes. In your opinion, do U.S. policies enable and sustain these aggressions?

The United States has a serious internal problem due to the huge role played by the zionist lobby in its institutions. It is too powerful. The political scientists John Mearsheimer and Stephen Walt have even showed how this lobby generally operates against the national interests of United States, basically by forcing them to act always in support of Israel. And now we witnessed how Donald J. Trump has saved Netanyahu provinding him an exit strategy from a situation that was becoming very dangerous for Israel. The two countries, furthermore, share the same disrespect for the international law. Unfortunately we still live in a world where United States (despite its growing weakness) decide what it is right and wrong. We are living the last instants of the unipolar world. Just when we will overcome this phase, the world order will be completely multipolar we can think about holding them accountable for their crimes (which are actually too many).

8. "The Israeli regime often claims to be targeting military sites, but in practice, civilian areas are hit. This is evident in Gaza, where the high number of child victims and disabled survivors speaks for itself. Similarly, in its recent attacks on Iran, many of the victims have been women, children, and civilians. What do you think is Israel's real motive behind targeting civilians in this way?"

I quoted before John Mearsheimer and Stephen Walt. Well the same two American political scientists have showed how the Israeli claims that Hamas or Hezbollah use civilians as human shields by building their military facilities in proximity of civilian areas are basically false. The opposite is actually true, if we consider that the Israeli settlements in the West Bank, for instance, are both military and civilian construction. For the Gaza case, it is pretty obvious that the target of the zionist force by killing and terrorizing civilians is to push them to abandon the strip. In other words, the objective is the ethnic cleansing of the area, in order to make it a new space for settlements. Like that, Israel can even exploit the gas fields in the sea in front of Gaza. And we know that another target of Israel is to become a regional enerygy hub. The same applies for south of Lebanon. The case of Iran is different. Israel cannot occupy Iran, but they believe that targeting civilians (especially if linked with the political, military or technological institutions of the Islamic Republic) can help the “regime change”. At the moment, as I already said, they have obtained the opposite result.

9. "The Israeli regime possesses illegal nuclear weapons without any IAEA oversight, yet it attacks Iran under the pretext of nuclear concerns. Isn’t this a clear example of double standards in global norms? How should the international community address this hypocrisy?"

9) The international community should be very concerned about the Israeli nuclear weapons. Many times I defined Israel as a threat not just for its neighbours but for all the countries from the Hindu river until Gibraltar. This is because of the so called Samson option: the idea that Israel, if under existential threat, can decide to blow up the entire region bringing down its enemies with itself. In 1994, the settler Baruch Goldstein did something similar in Ibrahim mosque in Hebron. He killed thirty innocent people while they were praying before getting killed by the rest of the angry crowd. It's a strong myth for the zionist propaganda. Already Moshe Dayan (military chief of Israel and politician from the past) used to say that Israel should be like a mad dog that everyone fears. I say this because international community is terrorized by a muslim country with an atomic bomb. The nuclear program of Pakistan, for instance, has been highly criticized despite its utility as deterrence against Indian atomic weapons. Well, in my opinion, Israel nuclear arsenal is far more dangerous even than the North Korean one or the Pakistani one. We are talking about a country that never signed the treaty of non proliferation and that acts always in contempt of human life and openly against international law. Despite that, in the west, we still consider it as our friend and ally. Let me say that this is ridiculous. For this reason, we have to act fast in order to foster the evolution of the world order towards multipolarity. Europe, unfortunately, due to its geopolitical condition and its deep crisis (especially in terms of credibility) cannot play any role in this race. But Iran has a lot of potential.
