SAEDNEWS: Former Iranian presidential advisor Hesamoddin Ashena has poured cold water on hopes of peace following the ceasefire with Israel, declaring that the war is far from over and the current truce is merely a tactical pause conditioned on Iran’s recovery of military and economic strength.

This Is Not Peace’: Iranian Ex-Official Warns Ceasefire With Israel Is Just a Breather Before the Next Blow

According to Saed News, Hesamoddin Ashena, an advisor to former President Hassan Rouhani, issued a stark warning about the recently declared ceasefire between Iran and Israel. In a post on X (formerly Twitter), Ashena emphasized that the cessation of hostilities should not be mistaken for the end of the conflict.

"The war has not ended. We are standing at the most difficult point of the battle," he wrote. "We have neither been defeated nor emerged victorious. Nor has the enemy. The ceasefire is neither temporary nor permanent — it is conditional."

Ashena further elaborated that the pause in fighting hinges on Iran's ability to rapidly rebuild its offensive and defensive capacities, restore economic power, and reinforce social cohesion. This framing casts the ceasefire not as a breakthrough for peace, but rather as a high-stakes intermission in an ongoing strategic standoff.

His remarks underscore the continued fragility of the situation and hint at Tehran’s broader calculus: that deterrence and preparedness are vital levers for survival and influence in the region. In the current geopolitical climate, Ashena’s warning signals a sobering reality — that the end of visible conflict does not equate to the arrival of peace.
