Putin: Attacks on Iran Are Unjustified and Without any Rationale.

According to Saednews, during a meeting with Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi on Monday afternoon at the Kremlin, Russian President Vladimir Putin stated:

“As you know, I have spoken by phone with the President of the United States, the Prime Minister of Israel, the President of the United Arab Emirates, and also with your president. I understand that you have recently met with foreign ministers in Europe. I am very pleased that you are in Moscow today. This gives us an opportunity to discuss these urgent matters and jointly consider ways to resolve the current situation.”

The Russian President, referring to his country's positions expressed through the Foreign Ministry’s statements and at the UN Security Council, added:
“The unjustified aggression against Iran has no basis.”

Putin emphasized: “We have long-standing, good, and trustworthy relations with Iran. We are doing our part to help the Iranian people and to explore possible solutions.”

President Putin also asked Araghchi to convey his best wishes to the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Republic and President Masoud Pezeshkian.

Araghchi: Iran is exercising its legitimate right to self-defense

In response, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi conveyed the greetings of the Supreme Leader and President of Iran to President Putin and thanked Russia for its stance following the U.S. and Israeli military attacks on Iran.

Araghchi said: “This meeting is taking place amid a critical regional situation. Iran and Russia have close and long-standing ties that have in recent years evolved into a strategic partnership. We’ve always held close consultations with our Russian friends on global security matters.”

He added: “In the area of Iran’s nuclear program, Russia is a partner and is currently constructing a nuclear power plant in Bushehr. It has also played a positive role in helping us reach good agreements in this field.”

Araghchi expressed appreciation for Russia’s firm and principled positions in condemning the aggression, saying:
“Russia stands on the right side of history and in accordance with international law.”

He stressed: “Tensions are rising now due to the unjustified aggression by the Israeli regime and the U.S. against Iran. These acts of aggression are completely illegitimate and violate international laws and norms. We are now defending our sovereignty and homeland — and our defense is fully legitimate.”

The meeting was attended by Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov and the President’s Foreign Policy Aide on the Russian side, and by Iran’s Deputy Foreign Minister for Legal and International Affairs and the Iranian Ambassador to Moscow on the Iranian side.

According to Saednews, the Iranian Foreign Minister’s visit to Moscow had been scheduled prior to the U.S. attacks on Iran’s nuclear facilities and took place on Sunday night.

Iran’s ambassador to Russia, Kazem Jalali, said that following Moscow, the Iranian diplomatic delegation would continue consultations in several European, Asian, and Arab capitals regarding the U.S.-Israeli aggression.

“Under the United Nations Charter and its provisions that allow for lawful self-defense, Iran reserves all options to defend its sovereignty, interests, and people.”

Iran’s Atomic Energy Organization also issued a statement denouncing the brutal attacks on Fordow, Natanz, and Isfahan, calling them violations of international law and the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT), and vowed:
“We will not allow the development of this national industry to be halted.”
