SAEDNEWS: Iran’s judiciary has confirmed that an Israeli missile strike targeted Evin Prison in northern Tehran, damaging parts of the facility, though authorities insist the situation is now fully under control.
According to Saed News, citing ISNA, the Judiciary's media office announced on Monday that the latest round of Israeli attacks on the Iranian capital resulted in the impact of “projectiles” on the grounds of Evin Prison — one of the country’s most high-security and politically sensitive detention centres.
“In the most recent Zionist regime assault on Tehran, projectiles struck Evin Prison, causing damage to parts of the facility,” the statement said. “All resources have been mobilised to manage the prison complex, and the situation is currently under control.”
The Judiciary condemned the strike as a flagrant violation of international law, calling the attack “a clear breach of global norms and humanitarian standards.”
The statement also denied reports of chaos inside the prison, including claims of gunfire and riots — rumours that had circulated online and in opposition media outlets, particularly those affiliated with Israeli intelligence, such as the London-based Iran International.
“There is no unrest or shooting within Evin Prison,” the Judiciary insisted. “Following the attack by the criminal Zionist regime, with the presence of all forces and full deployment of resources, order has been restored. The fabricated reports about internal disturbances are false.”
Evin Prison, known for housing political prisoners, dual nationals, and high-profile detainees, has long been symbolic of Iran’s domestic security policies. An attack on such a site marks a significant escalation in the current wave of hostilities between Iran and Israel.
This latest development comes amid a series of tit-for-tat military exchanges and growing fears of broader regional escalation. Iran has already launched retaliatory strikes earlier in the day, with reports indicating use of Kheibar Shekan, Emad, Qadr, and Fattah-1 missiles targeting Israeli sites.
While Israeli authorities have not officially commented on the strike against Evin, the narrative war appears to be intensifying alongside the physical confrontation — with each side accusing the other of manipulation, illegality, and moral bankruptcy.
