Saed News: U.S. Senator Bernie Sanders has introduced a bill to prevent President Trump from taking military action against Iran.
According to Saed News, citing EconIran, Senator Bernie Sanders has introduced the “No War Against Iran Act,” a bill that prohibits the use of federal funds for any military action against Iran unless specifically authorized by the U.S. Congress.
Sanders, an Independent senator from Vermont, stated: “Netanyahu’s reckless and illegal attacks violate international law and risk igniting a regional war. Congress must make it clear that the United States will not be dragged into a war of choice by Netanyahu.”
He added: “Our Founding Fathers placed the power to decide on war and peace solely in the hands of the people's elected representatives in Congress. We must make clear that the president does not have the authority to launch another costly war without explicit congressional approval.”
Although the bill is backed by several Democratic senators, including Elizabeth Warren of Massachusetts, it is unlikely to become law, as Republicans currently control both the Senate and the House of Representatives—and President Trump holds the power to veto any legislation passed by Congress.
