SAEDNEWS: The advisor to the Iraqi Prime Minister has denied reports claiming the entry of armed Iraqi personnel into Iran.

Is It True That Thousands of Iraqi Forces Are Being Used to Counter Protests in Iran?

According to SAEDNEWS, Hussein Alawi, advisor to the Iraqi Prime Minister, said today (Friday) that news reports about the entry of armed Iraqi individuals into Iran are misleading and intended to mislead global and regional public opinion.

Earlier, CNN, citing European military and Iraqi security sources, claimed that thousands of Iraqi forces had entered Iran in recent weeks to assist Iranian security forces in countering unrest during ongoing protests.

Alawi told Sky News Arabia: “The Iraqi government has issued a statement regarding the current conflict and developments in Iran, emphasizing that it will never allow its territory to be used to threaten a neighboring country. These are merely reports published with the intent of dragging Iraq into a dangerous situation. These reports are misleading. The Iranian side has the capability to manage the situation and does not need Iraqi support. We are committed to international agreements to preserve regional security and stability.”

He added: “Iraqi security agencies are working to maintain security and stability and support the people. Iraq has stability, and we are awaiting the formation of a government and agreement on the presidential candidate.”
