SAEDNEWS: U.S. President Says If Ukraine-Russia War Isn’t Resolved, Tomahawk Cruise Missiles Will Be Sent to Kyiv
According to the political news service of Saed News, citing Turkey’s TRT network, Donald Trump, while traveling to the occupied territories and Egypt on Sunday to address the Gaza ceasefire agreement, stated that he “would like to send Tomahawk missiles.”
Referring to his discussions with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, he said, “We talked about this, and we’ll have to see what happens.”
The U.S. President added, “Honestly, I may have to speak with Russia. Do they want Tomahawk missiles sent to Ukraine? I don’t think so.”
Trump said he had told his Ukrainian counterpart that sending Tomahawk missiles would represent a “new phase of hostilities.”
He explained, “If this war is not going to be resolved, I will send them Tomahawk missiles. The Tomahawk is a reliable and highly aggressive weapon. Russia does not need to be involved in this situation. But if the war is not resolved, we can do it.”
Trump further emphasized, “I want to see the war resolved.”
Earlier, Axios reported that last week, on the sidelines of the 80th annual United Nations General Assembly, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky requested that his American counterpart provide Ukraine with long-range Tomahawk cruise missiles.
The Tomahawk missile, with a range of up to 2,500 kilometers and a warhead weighing 450 kilograms (922 pounds), far exceeds any long-range system Ukraine has received from Western allies to date.
Kate Kloog, the U.S. special representative for Russia and Ukraine, stated a few days after this report that Washington has not yet decided whether to send long-range Tomahawk missiles to NATO countries for transfer to Kyiv.
She emphasized, “The final decision to begin sending these missiles rests with the President of the United States.”
