SAEDNEWS: The Sumud flotilla, launched to deliver humanitarian aid and challenge the blockade on Gaza, has reported coming under a large-scale drone attack.
According to organizers, several unidentified drones reportedly hovered over the Gaza-bound flotilla’s ships, raising alarms among activists on board. Some sources claimed the drones were operated by the Israeli regime, though official confirmation is pending.
Initial reports suggest that one drone dropped a substance with a strong gunpowder-like smell onto one of the vessels, causing panic among crew members. In addition, activists reported that two projectiles were fired at the flotilla — one identified as a smoke device, while the other fell harmlessly into the sea.
The incident underscores escalating tensions in the region and raises serious questions about the safety of humanitarian missions navigating near contested waters. Observers warn that such drone activity could mark a worrying trend in targeting civilian and activist vessels.
