SAEDNEWS: The Iranian Foreign Ministry strongly condemned as “unlawful, unfounded, and provocative” the attempt by the EU3 to abuse the JCPOA’s dispute resolution mechanism in order to reinstate Security Council sanctions annulled under Resolution 2231.
In a statement on Friday, Iran’s Foreign Ministry strongly denounced the attempt by France, Germany, and the United Kingdom to reinstate previously terminated UN Security Council resolutions under the JCPOA dispute mechanism. Tehran called the move unlawful, provocative, and politically motivated, asserting it undermines diplomacy, weakens the UN’s credibility, and violates the foundations of the Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT).
The Ministry highlighted that the European trio’s action comes amid US and Israeli attacks on Iran’s safeguarded nuclear facilities, further demonstrating disregard for international law. Despite Iran’s recent IAEA agreement on September 9, 2025, which received global approval, these countries ignored the accord and pursued their own political interests.
Key points emphasized by Iran include:
The European action is legally unjustifiable and undermines ongoing diplomacy.
Responsibility for consequences rests with the US and European trio, which pressured UN members to support their agenda.
The unilateral move damages the credibility of the UN Security Council and the NPT framework.
Iran reaffirmed its peaceful nuclear program, rooted in the people’s will for scientific and technological progress.
Tehran calls on the international community to reject this unlawful measure and refuse to legitimize it.
The statement reflects Iran’s commitment to diplomacy, while reserving the right to respond to any unlawful actions that threaten its sovereignty and nuclear rights.
