This Cow Escaped a Slaughterhouse — Her Viral Run Ended With a $2,500 Rescue and a Happy Ending!

The legen-dairy story of “Mootilda” began with a dramatic escape: a 4-year-old cow bolting from a local slaughterhouse and running for miles in blistering heat, her flight captured and shared across social media. After she was corralled and briefly returned to the facility, Aimee Takaha — founder of Aimee’s Farm Animal Sanctuary — saw Mootilda’s struggle and reached out.

The slaughterhouse issued an ultimatum: if the sanctuary couldn’t raise $2,500 within 24 hours, Mootilda would remain. Takaha turned to social media, and animal lovers stampeded to help — donors quickly met the target. With the funds secured, Mootilda was rescued and transported to the East Valley sanctuary.

Now safely settled, Mootilda will spend her days roaming freely with other rescued farm animals. Her viral run — and the community response it inspired — is a reminder of how a single social post can change one animal’s fate.
