SAEDNEWS: An independent United Nations investigation has concluded that Israel has committed genocide against Palestinians in Gaza.
A newly released 72-page report on Tuesday concluded that Israel has committed four of the five acts of genocide as defined under international law since the start of the 2023 war with Hamas.
The UN Independent International Commission of Inquiry on the Occupied Palestinian Territory, chaired by Navi Pillay, found “reasonable grounds” to establish that Israel deliberately targeted Palestinians in ways that constitute genocide under the Rome Statute and the Genocide Convention.
“Israeli authorities have (i) destroyed in part the reproductive capacity of Palestinians in Gaza by imposing measures intended to prevent births, and (ii) deliberately inflicted conditions of life calculated to bring about the physical destruction of Palestinians as a group,” the report stated.
Pillay directly accused Israeli leaders, including Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, of inciting genocide in Gaza. She described Israel’s campaign as “the most ruthless, prolonged, and widespread attack against the Palestinian people since 1948.”
The report highlights not just indiscriminate attacks but systemic policies aimed at dismantling the very existence of Palestinians in Gaza.
Pillay urged the international community to act:
“All countries must use every available tool to stop Israel’s actions in Gaza and the occupied territories.”
The findings add fuel to growing calls for accountability, putting unprecedented legal and moral pressure on Israel and its allies.
