SAEDNEWS: Iran and five partner states tabled a draft resolution at the IAEA urging a ban on all attacks or threats against safeguarded nuclear facilities.
Iran’s Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmaeil Baghaei revealed that Iran, alongside China, Russia, Venezuela, Nicaragua, and Belarus, has submitted a draft resolution to the United Nations titled “Prohibition of All Forms of Attack and Threats of Attack Against Nuclear Sites and Facilities Under IAEA Safeguards.”
Posting on X, Baghaei stated:
“To defend the integrity of the NPT, Iran along with China, Russia, Venezuela, Nicaragua and Belarus have submitted a draft resolution on the prohibition of all forms of attack and threats of attack against nuclear sites and facilities under IAEA safeguards.”
The Iranian diplomat stressed that the proposal affirms every nation’s inalienable right to develop nuclear energy for peaceful purposes and to receive effective guarantees against any attack or threat of attack.
He further emphasized that the resolution makes clear that all states must refrain from attacking or threatening peaceful nuclear facilities in other countries.
Baghaei concluded with a sharp warning: “These principles must be upheld; it is high time that the international community acted firmly to prevent the normalization of lawlessness.”
The move underscores Iran’s push—backed by key allies—to tighten global protections around nuclear infrastructure and challenge what it sees as growing threats against sovereign rights under international law.
