SAEDNEWS: More than 110,000 people joined a far-right anti-immigration march in London, leading to clashes with police, numerous injuries, and political tensions; authorities warn that a backlash could follow.
According to Saed News; On Saturday, London became the scene of one of the United Kingdom's largest far-right demonstrations in recent memory. The “Unite the Kingdom” rally, organized by activist Tommy Robinson, drew an estimated 110,000 to 150,000 people through central London in protest of immigration policies. The scale far outstripped expectations and resulted in violent confrontations between protesters and police.
While many attendees claimed to be exercising the right to peaceful protest, the Metropolitan Police reported “unacceptable violence” from several protestors. At least 26 officers were injured, four of them seriously, with injuries ranging from broken teeth to possible concussions and more.
Around 25 arrests have been made so far, including for offences such as assault and violent disorder. Police said this is just the start, and further action will follow.
The march was marked by nationalist symbols: Union Jack and St George’s Cross flags, “MAGA” hats, signs reading “send them home,” and chants critical of Prime Minister Keir Starmer.
Simultaneously, around 5,000 counter-protesters gathered under the “Stand Up to Racism” banner, calling for refugee rights and standing against far-right ideology. Police attempted to keep the two groups apart by cordons and a “sterile area” near Whitehall.
Tommy Robinson (Stephen Yaxley-Lennon), known for his anti-immigrant and anti-Islam positions, called the day “a spark of a cultural revolution.” He claimed the march was about free speech, British heritage, and giving voice back to citizens.
Among speakers was Elon Musk, via video-link, criticizing UK migration policy and government. French far-right figure Éric Zemmour also addressed the crowd, invoking the “Great Replacement” theory — a conspiracy theory claiming white European populations are being displaced by immigrants.
London’s Metropolitan Police acknowledged they underestimated turnout size, saying the crowd was “too big” for parts of Whitehall, leading to difficulties in crowd control.
Assistant Commissioner Matt Twist stated: “Many came lawfully, but many came intent on violence.” Home Secretary Shabana Mahmood condemned those who attacked police and emphasized that criminal participants will face full legal consequences.
Political analysts say this march marks a new phase in UK’s immigration debate — one where far-right groups feel emboldened and public sentiment is more polarized than ever.
Immigration has become the dominant political issue, surpassing economic concerns, especially in light of increasing numbers of asylum seekers arriving via small boats.
