Max Fried gave New York a strong start, working seven innings while allowing just four hits and one run and striking out five. The Yankees built an early lead when Chisholm homered in the second, then broke the game open in the fifth when Grisham’s slam cleared the bases and made it 6–0. Chisholm added a solo shot in the eighth to finish the scoring.
Houston got a run in the sixth on a forceout after a Carlos Correa single, and otherwise managed only scattered hits — its first hit came with no outs in the fifth. Framber Valdez lasted five innings and yielded six runs.
