SAEDNEWS: Cardi B has emerged victorious in a Los Angeles civil trial after a jury unanimously found her not liable for assault and battery allegations brought by a former security guard.
According to Saed News, the Grammy-winning rapper faced a $24 million lawsuit from Emani Ellis, who accused her of striking, spitting, and using racial slurs during a 2018 confrontation outside a medical office. Ellis, then working as a security guard, testified that Cardi sliced her cheek with a fingernail during the dispute. Cardi denied the claims, insisting she was pregnant at the time and only exchanged words after Ellis allegedly attempted to film her doctor’s appointment without consent.
The case reached trial in August after years of legal wrangling, but the jury sided entirely with the rapper, clearing her of any liability and sparing her from paying damages. Testimony from Cardi’s doctor and office staff supported her account, stating they never witnessed any physical altercation.
Ellis, who filed the suit , vowed to appeal the verdict. Cardi, meanwhile, has warned that she will counter future “nefarious” lawsuits, framing the case as an attempted cash grab. The high-profile trial drew wide media coverage, with the rapper making multiple court appearances in striking outfits and jewelry, underscoring both her celebrity status and determination to fight the allegations head-on.
