Iran Sees No Limits to Expanding Ties With Belarus: Pezeshkian

President Masoud Pezeshkian says Tehran sees no limits to expanding relations with Belarus, stressing the need for greater cooperation to counter unilateralism and its “destructive consequences.”

Speaking at a joint press conference with Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko during his official visit to Minsk on Wednesday, Pezeshkian described ties between the two countries as being pursued “at the highest possible level.”

He said the trip marked “a turning point” in bilateral relations, adding that the results would become visible in the future growth of cooperation.

Pezeshkian called Belarus “an important country in the strategic Eurasia region and a reliable partner for the Islamic Republic of Iran,” reaffirming Iran’s commitment to a comprehensive roadmap for cooperation with Belarus covering 2023-2026.

He highlighted a recent meeting of the Iran-Belarus joint economic commission in Minsk, and said the documents signed during his visit – spanning economic, cultural, and legal areas – would help strengthen cooperation.

He stressed that the two countries are ready to enhance cooperation in different areas, including customs, joint investment, increasing cargo and passenger transit, and addressing challenges faced by the private sector.

“We hope, with joint efforts, to see tangible results in expanding and strengthening the volume of trade between the two countries,” Pezeshkian said.
