Fried Mushrooms

Ingredients for Fried Mushrooms

  • Mushrooms: 500 grams

  • Bread crumbs (crushed): 1 cup

  • Flour: ½ cup

  • Eggs: 2

  • Milk: 1/8 cup

  • Dried oregano: ½ teaspoon

  • Garlic powder: ½ teaspoon

  • Curry powder: ¼ teaspoon

  • Black pepper: ½ teaspoon

  • Salt: as needed

  • Dried basil: ¼ teaspoon

  • Thyme: ¼ teaspoon

  • Frying oil: as needed

Instructions for Fried Mushrooms

1. Cleaning the Mushrooms
First, wash the mushrooms thoroughly. For better cleaning, peel the outer layer of the mushrooms, sprinkle some salt on them, and set aside.

Important tips for washing and choosing mushrooms:

  • Wash mushrooms with cold water and dry them completely for easier peeling.

  • Use small mushrooms for frying; if you use large ones, cut them in half.

2. Preparing Ingredients
Prepare three bowls for mixing ingredients:

  • In one bowl, mix oregano, garlic powder, black pepper, curry powder, basil, and thyme thoroughly.

  • In another bowl, beat the eggs and mix with milk.

  • In the third bowl, mix the bread crumbs, salt, black pepper, and garlic powder.

Tip: If you like spicy food, add some red chili flakes to the bread crumb mixture.

3. Coating the Mushrooms
You can coat the mushrooms by two methods:

  • Method one: Put all mushrooms in the flour mixture and shake well to coat evenly. Then dip them in the egg mixture and shake to combine. Finally, coat them again in the bread crumb mixture. Place coated mushrooms on a clean plate.

  • Method two: Individually dip each mushroom first in flour, then egg, then bread crumbs until all mushrooms are coated.

4. Frying the Mushrooms
Pour enough oil in a suitable pan to fully submerge the mushrooms. Heat the oil, add the mushrooms, and fry until both sides are golden brown.

Important frying tips:

  • Fried mushrooms should be golden brown.

  • Frying takes about 6-10 minutes.

  • You can use pure olive oil.

  • Use a large pan to avoid overcrowding, which prevents proper frying.

  • Monitor oil temperature; it drops when mushrooms are added, so reheat if necessary.

5. Removing and Serving
Remove mushrooms from oil and place them on paper towels to absorb excess oil. Your fried mushrooms are ready to serve — enjoy!

Serving and Garnishing Tips

  • Ranch sauce pairs well with fried mushrooms.

  • You can also serve with homemade tomato sauce.

  • For garlic lovers, drizzle garlic butter on mushrooms and garnish with chopped parsley.

  • For a Mediterranean touch, serve with tzatziki sauce.
