SAEDNEWS: Harris ahead of Trump by four percentage points in Michigan, Pennsylvania and Wisconsin.
According to SAEDNEWS, Vice President Kamala Harris, now a Democratic presidential candidate, is leading former President Donald Trump by four points in three crucial battleground states — Wisconsin, Pennsylvania, and Michigan. This information comes from recent polling conducted by the New York Times and Siena College.
The surveys, conducted from August 5 to 9, indicate that Harris holds an advantage of 50% to 46% over Trump among likely voters in these states. The margin of sampling error for the polls is reported to be plus or minus 4.8 percentage points in Michigan, plus or minus 4.2 points in Pennsylvania, and plus or minus 4.3 points in Wisconsin. A total of 1,973 likely voters participated in the polls.
Harris's ascent follows the conclusion of President Joe Biden's reelection bid on July 21, during which he endorsed her for the upcoming election on November 5 against Trump. This shift came after Biden's challenging debate performance against Trump in late June, which had raised concerns among Democrats regarding his viability as a candidate.
The political landscape has been further complicated by U.S. support for Israel's military actions in Gaza, which have resulted in significant casualties and a humanitarian crisis. This stance has sparked considerable protests and opposition to the Biden administration, especially among liberal, Muslim-American, and Arab-American groups in Michigan.
Approximately 200,000 individuals from these three states have expressed their intention to remain "uncommitted" in the Democratic primaries, particularly due to concerns related to Gaza policy. In response, Harris has made strong public statements advocating for Palestinian human rights, though she has not indicated any substantial policy changes from Biden regarding the situation in Gaza.
Following Biden's debate struggles, Trump had managed to establish a lead in polls, including in battleground states. However, Harris's entry into the race has shifted the dynamics. An Ipsos poll released on Thursday revealed Harris leading Trump nationally, 42% to 37%, in the contest for the election on November 5. This online poll, which surveyed 2,045 U.S. adults from August 2 to 7, has a margin of error of approximately 3 percentage points.
