SAEDNEWS: Iran’s deputy agriculture minister put the country’s annual apple production at 3-4 million tons.
According to SAEDNEWS, Iran is home to approximately 250,000 hectares dedicated to apple cultivation, according to Nabi Hadavand. He highlighted that the provinces of West Azarbaijan, East Azarbaijan, and Tehran are the leading contributors to the country's apple production, showcasing a rich agricultural heritage.
In addition to apples, Iran has seen remarkable growth in its agricultural exports. During the first four months of the current Iranian calendar year (March 20 to July 21), the country exported around 2.226 million tons of agricultural products valued at $1.18 billion. This marks an impressive 32 percent increase in value compared to the same period last year, demonstrating the resilience and potential of Iran's agricultural sector.
The Islamic Republic of Iran Customs Administration (IRICA) reported that, in terms of weight, agricultural exports also rose by 22 percent. Among the array of products exported, pistachios stood out as the top item, with a staggering $237 million in exports—an increase of 193 percent year on year. This surge not only highlights Iran's key position in the global pistachio market but also underscores the country's ability to capitalize on its agricultural strengths.
With the focus on enhancing production and export capacity, Iran is poised to further solidify its reputation as a leading player in the agricultural industry.
