U.S.-Israeli Attacks ‘An Act Of Aggression,’ U.N. Must Announce Aggressor, Says Iran

According to Saednews, Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmaeil Baqaei says the United States and Israel conducted an act of aggression on Iran, emphasizing that the United Nations must officially recognize the aggressor and hold it to account.

Baqaei made the remark on Monday during a weekly press briefing in Tehran.

“What happened was an act of aggression with all its characteristics, based on international law and the United Nations Charter. Our main demand from international bodies, especially the United Nations, is that the aggressor be officially recognized. The United Nations Security Council must confirm this and take the necessary measures to hold the Zionist regime and the United States accountable,” he told reporters.

Europe’s stance on Israeli aggression

The spokesperson also said that the stances of Europe, especially those by Germany and France regarding the Israeli regime’s aggression against Iran, were not acceptable.

He particularly criticized German officials for describing the Israeli aggression as a “dirty job,” saying that the position marks a historic shame for the European country.

I.A.E.A. obligations

According to the Iranian official, the International Atomic Energy Agency (I.A.E.A.) has clear technical responsibilities, which must be conducted without being influenced politically.

Tehran expects the I.A.E.A. and its director general to comply with their obligations away from political maneuvering, Baqaei said. However, he added, issues concerning the agency’s performance must not distract the world from the illegal action of the United States and the Israeli regime in attacking Iran’s peaceful nuclear facilities.
