SAEDNEWS: Russia and Iran will sign a comprehensive strategic partnership treaty during a separate visit of Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian to Moscow, Iran's Ambassador to Russia Kazem Jalali said.
According to SAEDNEWS, Iran and Russia are preparing to sign a comprehensive strategic partnership treaty in the near future. This announcement was made by Iran's Ambassador to Russia, Kazem Jalali, who explained that the treaty will be signed during a visit from Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian to Moscow.
Jalali stated, "This agreement was ready to be signed in Kazan [during the October 22-24 BRICS summit], but the two presidents agreed at a meeting in Ashgabat that it would be concluded during bilateral visits." He added, "In this regard, [Russian leader] Mr. [Vladimir] Putin invited Pezeshkian to visit Moscow." The agreement is set to strengthen cooperation between the two countries across various sectors.
The talks between President Putin and President Pezeshkian took place in Ashgabat on October 11. After the meeting, Pezeshkian expressed hope that the treaty could be signed during the upcoming BRICS summit in Kazan on October 22-24.
Additionally, Putin approved the draft of the partnership agreement on September 18, and on October 4, Jalali confirmed that the document was ready for signing, according to reports from Russian news agency TASS.
As both nations look forward to this significant step in their diplomatic relationship, all eyes will be on the upcoming visit to Moscow.
