SAEDNEWS: Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said on Sunday that Iran and Turkiye share common concerns and interests, stressing that despite differences on some issues, the two neighbors have consistently maintained close consultations.
In an exclusive interview with IRNA following his Sunday meeting with Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan, Iran’s Deputy Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said the talks were part of ongoing bilateral consultations. Various topics were discussed, including trade, political exchanges, and cultural, commercial, and economic cooperation.
Araghchi noted that, despite some disagreements, Iran and Turkiye share common concerns and interests due to their geographical proximity. He emphasized that close dialogue and diplomatic exchanges have continued even during periods of disagreement. The top Iranian diplomat also highlighted a mutual understanding that the two countries’ relations should remain friendly under all circumstances.
Regional Crises on the Agenda

During the meeting, both sides reviewed several regional crises, with the Gaza and Palestine issue taking center stage. Both countries condemned the expansionist policies and aggressions of the Zionist regime in the region. The situation in Lebanon was also discussed, including repeated ceasefire violations and growing threats from Israel.
Regarding Syria, Araghchi stressed the importance of preserving the country’s sovereignty and territorial integrity for regional stability, while acknowledging some differences in approach. The discussion also covered the establishment of a joint regional security framework, with both sides underscoring the need for closer collaboration in response to recent aggressive acts by the Zionist regime.
Nuclear and International Issues

On the nuclear front, Iran reiterated its readiness for “honorable and fair negotiations” on an equal footing, while criticizing the United States’ “greedy and bullying policies” for impeding dialogue. Araghchi emphasized, “If negotiations serve the interests of the Iranian people and safeguard their rights, we will engage without hesitation—but we will not yield to bullying or greed.”
The discussions also touched on other international matters, including the situations in Ukraine and Europe.
