SAEDNEWS: Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi has called on all member states of the IAEA Board of Governors to oppose the illegal action by the three European countries against the Islamic Republic of Iran.
Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi held a telephone conversation with his Brazilian counterpart, Mauro Vieira, on Wednesday night to discuss bilateral relations and international developments.
During the call, the two ministers reviewed the current state of bilateral ties, highlighting the importance of expanding cooperation across all areas of mutual interest. They also emphasized the significance of strengthening collaboration within international organizations.
Araghchi underscored the need to prevent certain countries from abusing international institutions to exert pressure on developing nations. He specifically criticized the recent action by three European countries that adopted a resolution against Iran at the International Atomic Energy Agency’s Board of Governors meeting, calling it “an irresponsible, provocative, and unjustified move” that continues their political approach alongside the United States in the UN Security Council. He added that this act undermines the IAEA’s credibility and its professional and technical authority.
The Iranian minister urged all IAEA Board members to oppose this illegal action by the three European countries.
Both ministers also stressed the importance of ongoing diplomatic cooperation and consultations, discussing the direction of future interactions between their countries.
