[VIDEO] Israel Claims Life of Palestinian Artist Mahasen Al-Khatib in Gaza

According to SAEDNEWS, In tragic news, Palestinian artist Mahasen Al-Khatib lost her life in an Israeli airstrike on the Jabalia refugee camp in northern Gaza. The bombing occurred Saturday evening, targeting her neighborhood in the besieged Gaza Strip.

Mahasen was known for her exceptional talents as a painter, storyboard artist, and freelance character designer. She also mentored emerging digital artists, using her skills to support her family. Throughout her career, she was a strong advocate for human rights and used her artwork to raise awareness about the violations faced by Palestinians.

“Mahasen was one of the most professional, humble and lovely artists in Gaza,” recalled Jumana Shahin, a trainee and friend of Al-Khatib. “She left a lasting impression on everyone she taught or met.”

Shahin described Mahasen’s resilience, saying, “I have never met someone as resilient as her. Even when she would speak about her suffering from starvation and the terrifying sounds of bombings, she did it with a sense of humor.”

Al-Khatib had expressed her desire to share her knowledge with others, believing that if anything were to happen to her, her experiences could live on through her students. Tragically, she created her last piece of art just before her death, portraying 19-year-old Shaban al-Dalu, who had recently died in a bombing of al-Aqsa Hospital.

The intensity of the ongoing conflict has made it impossible for her family to claim her body. Her uncle, Hosam, shared the difficulty they face: “We still can’t bury her body, which is at Kamal Adwan Hospital, because of the dangerous situation.”

Access to areas in northern Gaza has become increasingly difficult for ambulances and civil defense crews due to continued heavy bombardments.

The violence in Gaza has been escalating since October 2023, resulting in the tragic loss of over 42,519 lives and wounding more than 99,637 others. The situation has drawn attention from around the world, highlighting the ongoing suffering of the Palestinian people.
