SAEDNEWS: The implementation of the idea to create a no-fly zone over Ukraine and possibility for NATO countries to shoot down Russian drones would mean war between the alliance and Russia, Russian Security Council Deputy Chairman said.

Medvedev Claims NATO Countries Are Shooting Down Russian Drones Over Ukraine

Dmitry Medvedev, former Russian president and deputy chairman of Russia’s Security Council, issued a stark warning on his Telegram channel regarding the idea of establishing a no-fly zone over Ukraine. Commenting on remarks by Polish Foreign Minister Radoslaw Sikorski about such a zone, Medvedev wrote bluntly:

"Seriously, implementing the provocative idea of Kiev and other idiots to create a 'no-fly zone over Ukraine' and allowing NATO countries to down our drones will mean only one thing: NATO's war with Russia."

He also mocked the broader European response, noting that the so-called “powerful European initiative ‘Eastern Sentry’” left him amused. “This seems to be all that remains of the ‘coalition of the willing,’” Medvedev added, underlining what he sees as both the futility and the recklessness of Western efforts.

Medvedev’s statements highlight Moscow’s zero-tolerance stance toward any military involvement by NATO in Ukrainian airspace, signaling that even limited interventions could escalate into a direct confrontation between nuclear-armed powers. Analysts suggest his comments serve both as a warning to NATO capitals and as a domestic message reinforcing Russian resolve amid ongoing tensions.
