SAEDNEWS: A mummified body that had been frozen for over 5,300 years was discovered by a German man and woman, earning it the nickname the 'Ice Man' mummy.
According to the Society Service of Saed News, on September 19, 1991, German couple Erika and Helmut Simon were exploring Austria’s Ötztal Alps when they stumbled upon a human body, initially thought to belong to a mountaineer who had met with an accident.
As it turned out, the mummified remains had been preserved in ice for over 5,300 years. The ancient man became known as the “Iceman.”
Scattered around the body were remarkable artifacts, including a bow with a quiver of arrows, a complete copper-bladed axe, a flint dagger in a woven sheath, two wooden containers covered with maple leaves, remnants of a backpack, a leather pouch with small objects, fur and leather clothing, shoes, and other small artistic items.
