The Prince Who Was Expelled from the Court Before the Revolution and Arrested Afterwards

According to the Social Affairs Service of Saed News, in 1951 (1330 in the Iranian calendar), Hamid Reza married his mother’s cousin, Minou Dolatshahi, the daughter of Abolfath Dolatshahi, and they had a daughter named Niloufar Pahlavi. However, this marriage ended in divorce shortly thereafter. He then married Homa Khamenei, with whom he had two children, Nazak and Behzad. This marriage also did not last. Hamid Reza was accused by the royal family of causing public embarrassment for the monarchy through his behavior in social and official circles.

Reports from SAVAK were sent to the royal court alleging his addiction and conduct unbecoming of royal standards. Esmat Dolatshahi, Hamid Reza’s mother, confirmed his addiction and recounted that he had clashed with Nasiri over the arrest of two of Homa Khamenei’s friends by SAVAK. During the confrontation, he allegedly tore Nasiri’s insignia and slapped him, which further intensified the reports against him.

In 1961 (1340 in the Iranian calendar), he was completely expelled from the royal court, and his title of prince was revoked.

Due to his estrangement from the Pahlavi family, Hamid Reza did not leave Iran after the 1979 Islamic Revolution. He was imprisoned for a period and ultimately passed away on July 12, 1992 (21 Tir 1371) and was buried in Plot 76 of Behesht-e Zahra Cemetery.
