SAEDNEWS: New Revelation on Trump’s Relationship with Jeffrey Epstein, the Convicted Sex Offender, Shows Epstein Once Described Trump in an Email as a ‘Dog That Didn’t Bark.
According to SaeedNews Politics Service, the publication of three newly released emails concerning Donald Trump by Jeffrey Epstein has once again drawn public attention in the U.S. and around the world to the question of how much Trump knew about Epstein’s unethical behavior.
Among these emails, released by the Democratic members of the U.S. House Oversight Committee, there are exchanges between Epstein, Steve Bannon (Trump’s former adviser), and Larry Summers (former U.S. Treasury Secretary).
In one of his messages, Epstein describes Trump as “the dog that didn’t bark” and claims that Trump once asked him to cancel his membership at Mar-a-Lago, Trump’s luxury residence and club in Florida. In another email, Epstein wrote that “of course Trump knew about the girls,” because he had allegedly asked Ghislaine Maxwell (Epstein’s close accomplice) “to stop it.”
This is an English idiom rooted in a Sherlock Holmes story, where Holmes notes that “the dog did not bark,” meaning that although something significant happened, the person (or thing) that would normally react remained silent — and that silence itself is a crucial clue.
It appears that in Epstein’s email, by calling Trump “the dog that didn’t bark,” he was implying that either Trump had remained silent about Epstein — meaning that despite their previous relationship, Trump said nothing as the Epstein scandal escalated — or, conversely, Epstein was sarcastically suggesting that Trump still had not spoken out against him, and that this silence was noteworthy.
A third possibility is that Epstein meant Trump, unlike others, showed “no unexpected reaction,” suggesting he behaved cautiously — and that, in Epstein’s view, Trump’s silence “spoke volumes.”
Meanwhile, Donald Trump, the former U.S. president, reacted to the revelations on Wednesday evening on his Truth Social platform, reducing the issue to partisan conflict. Accusing his political rivals and portraying himself as a victim, he wrote:
“The Democrats are once again trying to revive the false story about Jeffrey Epstein because they’re willing to do anything to distract from their terrible performance during the government shutdown and other issues. Only a very bad or foolish Republican would fall for it.”
Continuing his post — and exploiting the economic hardship Americans are facing — Trump wrote:
“With their recent actions shutting down the country, the Democrats cost America 1.5 trillion dollars and put many lives at risk, and they must be held accountable. There must be no distraction toward Epstein or anything else; Republicans must focus entirely on reopening the country and compensating for the massive damage caused by the Democrats.”
Regardless of Epstein’s intended meaning behind the phrase “the dog that didn’t bark,” what matters now is that American public opinion increasingly sees Trump as one of the key figures implicated in Epstein’s sexual abuse case, demanding the disclosure of all involved names and the truth about Trump’s role in the affair.
Below are several images and cartoons circulated on social media in response to the new revelations:
