SAEDNEWS: The Minister of Roads and Urban Development, responding to the controversies surrounding the events at Ardabil Airport, stated: “The airport’s inspection team was unaware of the official protocols for government officials. This lack of awareness caused delays, and therefore, we decided to return from Ardabil by land.
According to the political service of Saed News, Farzaneh Sadegh Malvajerd, Iran’s Minister of Roads and Urban Development, stated on the sidelines of today’s cabinet meeting: “At a time when we are facing severe sanctions, restrictions, and prohibitions, the transit agreement between Iran, Azerbaijan, and Russia — and the presence of their representatives in our country — is of great significance.”
She added that the government’s strong diplomacy, personally led by the President, pursued the trilateral meeting in Baku to finalize this transit agreement.
The minister further noted: “We are working to ensure that the 20-year-old Ardabil–Mianeh railway project becomes operational by the end of this year.” Sadegh emphasized that “transportation diplomacy and corridor development are actively taking shape,” adding that efforts are underway to connect the Chabahar railway corridor to Zahedan by year’s end.
In response to recent controversies surrounding events at Ardabil Airport, the minister explained: “The airport’s inspection team was unfamiliar with official government protocols, which led to unnecessary delays. Therefore, we decided to return from Ardabil by land.”
It is worth noting that last week, after returning from a trip to the Republic of Azerbaijan, Minister Sadegh intended to fly from Ardabil Airport to Tehran. However, an airport officer, acting according to standard procedures, attempted to inspect the minister’s bag, prompting her protest and objection. Reportedly, Sadegh refused to allow the inspection, left the airport angrily, and proceeded to return to the capital by road.
