SAEDNEWS: Seyed Abbas Araghchi, the Foreign Minister, issued a message on the eve of the expiration of Resolution 2231 and emphasized that Iran’s sovereign rights are non-negotiable and will not be subjected to political pressure.
According to the Political Service of SaedNews, the Foreign Minister wrote on the social media platform X:
“At the recent meeting of the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) Foreign Ministers held in Kampala, more than 120 countries joined Iran in recognizing this reality:
UN Security Council Resolution 2231 will expire tomorrow, October 18, and accordingly, all previous Security Council restrictions against Iran will come to an end, and Iran will be removed from the Council’s agenda.
As one of the signatories to the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT), Iran will henceforth remain committed only to its rights and obligations under this treaty. This commitment includes the absence of any restrictions on the scope of Iran’s nuclear program, and cooperation with the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) will take place solely within the framework of the Comprehensive Safeguards Agreement and in accordance with the recent law passed by the Islamic Consultative Assembly (Parliament).
The illegal actions pursued by a small number of isolated governments have been rejected by the overwhelming majority of countries. Those who insist on distorting reality will only become increasingly isolated by continuing their current path.
Iran’s sovereign rights are non-negotiable and will not be subjected to political pressure. The rule of law— not coercion— must govern the world.”
