Kim Jong Un Declares: North Korea Has No Plans for Denuclearization

North Korea’s leader Kim Jong Un slammed ongoing calls for Pyongyang’s denuclearization, saying they ignore the country’s sovereignty and violate its constitutional order, as the DPRK’s nuclear status is enshrined in national law.

“Even now, there are many forces supporting the American mantra of denuclearization. These forces seriously encroach upon our sovereignty,” Kim said. “Can we commit an unconstitutional act? Why would we agree to denuclearization? Lift sanctions? As if!”

He criticized South Korea’s new administration for proposing a three-stage denuclearization plan, involving freezing the nuclear program, reducing arsenals, and full abandonment. Kim argued that such proposals undermine the foundation for dialogue with North Korea.

“We will not give up nuclear weapons,” he emphasized.

Meanwhile, on September 19, Wi Sung-lak, national security advisor to the South Korean president, confirmed that Seoul is prepared to offer partial sanctions relief in exchange for North Korea’s denuclearization during negotiations.

This standoff highlights continuing tensions on the Korean Peninsula, with Pyongyang standing firm on its nuclear program while diplomatic efforts cautiously proceed.
